Cereatividad: Organon celebra "International Women’s Day"

March 8, is International Women’s Day, a “global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.”

To recognize the day, global women’s healthcare company, Organon, a recent spinoff from Merck, is giving its entire staff of approximately 9,500 employees the day off to focus on taking care of their mental and physical health.

International Women’s Day (IWD) was organized in 1910 to raise awareness and action for women's rights: to work, to vote, to hold public office. Its goal over the past century has always been to accelerate gender parity. This year’s theme is Break the Bias, in recognition of how frequently women are negatively impacted by gender inequity.

Organon gave its staff the day off to expand on the IWD mission to include acknowledging the growing health disparities women face, now more than ever, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Organon launched with a commitment to listen to the needs of women and as part of our research, we learned that women are finding it harder than ever to make the time to care for even their most basic health needs,”

Kevin Ali, chief executive officer, Organon said in a press release. “This year, the symbolic action we are taking is to encourage all our people to spend this day off to make a commitment to their own health or the health of the women in their lives.

And as Susanne Fiedler, chief commercial officer at Organon, said in a recent Woman of the Week podcast with Editor-in-Chief Emeritus, Taren Grom, “When we launched and spun off from Merck, we didn’t just launch a company, we launched a commitment to listening to women and to understanding their unmet medical needs.

In honor of IWD and the executives who strive every day to bring equality to the C-suite, we are saluting four leaders in the women’s health space who are championing more opportunities and better health through gender equality. Revisit our conversations with these pioneering leaders today.
