A 50-year-old married man has been descibed as having Post Orgasmic Illness Syndrome, or POIS, in the Journal of Sexual Medicine. Since the age of 19, he would experience fever, weakness, exhaustion, loss of initiative, headache, disordered speech, irritability, forgetfulness, frightening dreams, swollen lips and sore throat after orgasm. The biggest miracle, however, is that this guy was still having sex with his wife once a week. They planned it on Fridays so he could recover from these symptoms over the weekend. POIS is actually real and is some type of autoimmune response where the guy is allergic to his own semen. Ouch. Using allergic "hyposensitization" they have gotten this patient much better so this is a nice medical success story. The next challenge is to fix Pre-Orgasmic Illness Syndrome, or PROIS, where many women experience weakness, exhaustion, loss of initiative, headache, irritability, and anger; all of which prevents recurrent intercourse. Many postulate this to be caused by an allergy to gold because it starts occurring once their wedding rings are placed on their fingers. Weird stuff.El "disease mongering" está a la orden del día.
