German pharmaceutical company Bayer has reportedly been named in nearly a thousand lawsuits over concerns about the safety of its anti-bleeding drug Trasylol. Last month, the Center for Science in the Public Interest filed suit against the company, alleging that it made inaccurate statements about the protections its Men's One-A-Day vitamins provide against prostate cancer.
And as a result of an agreement earlier this year between the company and the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office, Bayer is now running a $20 million advertising campaign for its oral contraceptive Yaz, the top-selling birth control pill in the country, to clarify what the government said were exaggerated claims about its use as a treatment for acne and PMS.
