El presidente venezolano, Hugo Chávez, anunció hoy una reforma del sistema de protección de la propiedad intelectual que permitirá eliminar las patentes establecidas por las compañías farmacéuticas para ciertas medicinas."Una canción es una propiedad intelectual, pero un invento o un descubrimiento científico deben ser conocimientos del mundo, especialmente en medicina", afirmó Chávez durante su programa semanal, Aló Presidente, retransmitido hoy desde el complejo petroquímico Ana María Campos, ubicado en el estado Zulia, fronterizo con Colombia.
"¿Que un laboratorio no nos deja fabricar medicinas porque tienen la patente? No, no, no", dijo. El mandatario venezolano ordenó al ministro de Comercio, Eduardo Saman, estudiar la normativa de patentes vigente en el país para preparar una posible reforma.
"Los patentes se han convertido en un obstáculo para la producción y no podemos permitir que haya barreras a la medicina, a la vida, a la agricultura", afirmó Saman, quien ya ocupó la dirección de la oficina de patentes venezolana.
