Shaped by 1970s California drug culture, Fred Tomaselli delivers an immersive—sometimes even ecstatic—experience to the viewer with his optical, eye-popping work. Here, he etches an orderly taxonomy of colorful capsules against an inky black background—they appear to float like planets and moons in a night sky, and likewise transport us to another dimension of reality.
