La semaine dernière, un article du blog financier Inside Paradeplatz avait déclenché une vive polémique en Suisse en dévoilant les indemnités colossales prévues pour l'ex-patron du groupe afin de s'assurer que celui-ci n'irait pas travailler pour la concurrence. Son parachute doré, qui prévoyait une indemnisation allant jusqu'à 72 millions de francs suisses, (60 millions d'euros), avait suscité une telle indignation dans les milieux politiques et patronaux que le groupe a fini par faire-machine arrière, annonçant mardi que l'accord avait été annulé

The recriminations came after shareholders learned from a blog that Novartis would pay Vasella the $78 million over 6 years in agreement for not taking his talents and his knowledge of Novartis to the competition. The flare-up came at a particularly heated time, just ahead of a March 3 vote in Switzerland on whether shareholders should be given a binding vote on executive pay.
