NOVARTIS: Jo Jimenez, Pasame la salsa...(slogan venezolano)

Novartis, the Swiss pharmaceuticals group, is planning to generate substantial additional cash flow and improve sales to patients by applying techniques drawn from consumer industries.

Jo Jimenez, head of pharmaceuticals, HJ Heinz told the Financial Times he aimed to halve the rate of cash conversion at Novartis over the next few years from its current level of more than 200 days between the production of drugs and receipt of payment from customers.

The aim - inspired by his experience in consumer goods and products at HJ Heinz - is to raise efficiency, releasing more money to the business for reinvestment and reducing its need for borrowing.
