The company's CEO for the last 8 years Werner Wenning will depart on September 30, 2010, to be replaced by Thermo Fisher Scientific's CEO Marijn Dekkers.
It's the first time an outsider has been named CEO of Bayer in the company's 146-year history.

Bayer Healthcare CEO Arthur Higgins (photo) is leaving the company "at his own request." Higgins will leave during the first half of 2010, at which point Dekkers will serve as CEO of Bayer HealthCare during the transition phase.
