Merck & Co. (MRK) Chief Executive Richard Clark said Tuesday the drug giant would consider a large-scale acquisition.

"Concerning a large-scale transaction, as I said before, I wouldn't rule anything out," he told analysts on a conference call. "I don't think any CEO in this environment can categorically rule out any transaction." He added that he was looking at opportunities across the "entire spectrum."
