Robert Essner, who was Wyeth CEO from 2001 to 2007, gave the Newswires his take on the new generation of pharma chiefs:

“The executives growing up in the industry now are doing so in an environment that is radically different than what I grew up in, in the ’80s and early ’90s,” he said.

“It’s a much tougher environment. It’s in some ways a more punishing one, more cost-conscious and productivity-oriented.”
